HOUSE BILL 263
AN ACT amending the charter of the city of high point to authorize the city council to delegate to the city's planning and zoning commission the authority to change the ZOning classification of property.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. Article IX of the Charter of the City of High Point, being Chapter 501 of the Session Laws of 1979, as amended, reads as rewritten:
"ARTICLE IX.
"GENERAL PROVISIONS.
…
"Sec. 9.9. Planning and Zoning Commission; authority.
…
"Sec. 9.9. Planning and Zoning Commission; authority. The City Council may, by ordinance, delegate or assign the authority to change the zoning classification of property to the Planning and Zoning Commission with certain rights of appeal and review before the City Council. This authority shall be exercised by the Planning and Zoning Commission under rules, regulations, and guidelines that may be established by the City Council."
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
