§ 58-2-100. Office of Commissioner a public office; records, etc., subject to inspection.
The office of the Commissioner shall be a public office and the records, reports, books and papers thereof on file therein shall be accessible to the inspection of the public in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 132 of the General Statutes, except that the records in the custody of the office of the Commissioner that were compiled as a part of an investigation for the crime of arson, that of unlawful burning, or of fraud, shall not be considered as public records and may be made available to the public only upon an order of court of competent jurisdiction. Records in the custody of the office of the Commissioner that were compiled as a part of an investigation described in this section shall upon request be made available to the district attorney of any district if the same concerns persons or investigations in his district.
