H97 - 2015 Appropriations Act, Sec. 12F.16(d)-(e): Improve Controlled Substances Reporting System Access and Utilization (SL 2015-241)

Overview: Secs. 12F.16.(d) and (e) of S.L. 2015-241 amend the laws regarding confidentiality of information submitted to the Department of Health and Human Services' (DHHS) Controlled Substance Reporting System (CSRS) in order to allow for information within CSRS to be utilized to inform medical records or clinical care and allow DHHS to release data within CSRS to the federal Drug Enforcement Administration's Office of Diversion Control and the North Carolina Health Information Exchange Authority (NC HIE Authority). DHHS must adopt appropriate policies and procedures documenting and supporting this expanded access of the CSRS.

These sections became effective September 18, 2015.
