H97 - 2015 Appropriations Act, Sec. 29.31: Enforcing Penalties for Lapse in Financial Responsibility (SL 2015-241)

Overview: Sec. 29.31 of S.L. 2015-241 adjusts the requirements that must be met for the Division of Motor Vehicles to impose a monetary penalty, revoke the registration of the person's motor vehicle, or both, for persons who have a lapse in financial responsibility or fail to pay a penalty or fee imposed for a lapse in financial responsibility. Effective September 18, 2015, this section also clarifies that there must be no penalty or revocation when the lapse in financial responsibility occurs after the person's death.

Except as otherwise provided, this section becomes effective January 1, 2016, and applies to lapses in financial responsibility occurring on or after that date.
