H1030 - 2016 Appropriations Act. (SL 2016-94)

Overview: Sec. 10.4 of S.L. 2016-94 allows the State Board of Community Colleges (SBCC) to waive tuition and registration fees for firefighters, EMS personnel, and rescue and lifesaving personnel whose duty station is located on a military installation within the State for courses that support their organizations' training needs and are approved for this purpose by the SBCC. This section also clarifies that federal law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and rescue and lifesaving personnel whose permanent duty station is within the State and who do not otherwise qualify for the tuition and registration fee waiver are eligible for the in-State resident community college tuition rate for courses that support their organizations' training needs and are approved for the purpose by the SBCC.

This section became effective July 1, 2016, and applies beginning with the 2016 fall academic term.
