S257 - Appropriations Act of 2017. (SL 2017-57)

Overview: Under current law (subsection (c) of G.S. 20-183.7), 65 cents of each motor vehicle emissions inspection fee is directed to the I&M Air Pollution Control Account (the Account) within the Department of Environmental Quality. Previously, the use of these funds was restricted to air quality programs related to mobile sources. Sec. 13.1 of S.L. 2017-257 broadens the allowable uses of funds from the Account to allow funding of any costs related to administration of the Department's air quality programs.
