S257 - Appropriations Act of 2017. (SL 2017-57)

Overview: Sec. 11H.14A of S.L. 2017-57 requires the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to develop a plan for adding Medicaid coverage for ambulance transports of Medicaid recipients in behavioral health crisis to behavioral health clinics or other alternative appropriate care locations instead of hospital emergency departments. DHHS must report its plan to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Medicaid and NC Health Choice by December 1, 2017, and the report must state whether DHHS intends to add this coverage pursuant to the authority granted under G.S. 108A-54(e) or whether additional appropriations are needed to implement this coverage.
