S257 - Appropriations Act of 2017. (SL 2017-57)

Overview: Section 19.2 of S.L. 2017-57 adds persons currently serving in a second or subsequent enlistment to the definition of "veteran" for purposes of determining rights and benefits administered by the Veterans' Affairs Commission including scholarships offered to children of eligible veterans. This section also authorizes children of veterans to be considered for a veteran's scholarship under more than one eligibility class as long as the child falls within the provisions and is subject to the limitations of each eligibility class for which the child is being considered. This section of the act became effective on July 1, 2017.
