S105 - 2021 Appropriations Act. (SL 2021-180)

Overview: Section 6.7 of S.L. 2021-180 requires the Community Colleges System Office (System Office) to establish the Fund for High Cost Workforce Programs (Fund) to assist community colleges starting new programs in high demand career fields that require significant start-up funds. Community colleges must apply to the System Office for start-up funds and demonstrate that the program will meet established criteria, as well as provide certain matching funds from non-State sources for awards. The System Office must submit an initial report to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee by December 1, 2022, and an annual report thereafter in any years that awards are made from the Fund. The report must include information on awards made, use of funds, and evaluation of the programs.
