H103 - 2022 Appropriations Act. (SL 2022-74)

Overview: Section 8A.1 of S.L. 2022-74 increases the funds appropriated from the General Fund to the Opportunity Scholarship Grant Reserve Fund for the next 15 years. The section also changes the income eligibility for Opportunity Scholarships so that students who reside in a household with an income level not in excess of 200% of the amount required for the student to qualify for the federal free or reduced-price lunch program are now eligible if they meet the other statutory criteria. Finally, this section increases the appropriations for funds for the Personal Education Student Accounts for Children with Disabilities Program.

This section became effective July 1, 2022. The income eligibility change applies beginning with applications for scholarship funds for the 2023-2024 school year.
