H259 - 2023 Appropriations Act. (SL 2023-134)

Overview: Section 9J.9 of S.L. 2023-134 provides that funds appropriated by the act to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for each year of the 2023-2025 fiscal biennium for a report on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) expenditures must be allocated for vendor costs to generate the data regarding program expenditures. The section outlines the data that must be generated by the vendor and submitted to the DHHS. Upon receiving the expenditure data from the vendor, the Division of Social Services (DSS), DHHS, must evaluate the data and submit a report on the analysis to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services and the Fiscal Research Division. DSS must also post the report on its website by June 30 and December 31 each year. DSS is required to maintain confidentiality and to properly redact any information subject to reporting to prevent identification of individuals in receipt of SNAP or TANF benefits.
