S582 - North Carolina Farm Act of 2023. (SL 2023-63)

Overview: Section 5.1 of S.L. 2023-63 makes the penalty for assault with a deadly weapon on an inspector from the Sleep Products Division of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (Department) or a poultry inspector from the Meat and Poultry Inspection Division a Class A1 misdemeanor.

This bill was vetoed by the Governor on June 23, 2023, and that veto was overridden by the General Assembly on June 27, 2023.

This section became effective December 1, 2023, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
