Overview: Section 9B.2 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) requires the Office of Rural Health (Office) of the Department of Health and Human Services to use funds appropriated under the act for the Community Health Grant Program (Program). The Office is required to make the final decision about awarding grants under the Program, but no single grant award can exceed $150,000 during a fiscal year. Grant recipients are forbidden from using the funds for certain purposes.
The Office is allowed to use up to $200,000 of the appropriated funds for administrative costs for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. It is required to submit a report on the awarded grants for the 2026 -2027 fiscal year to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services by September 1, 2027.
