Overview: Section 9E.8 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) makes a technical adjustment to the statutory formula used to calculate the total amount of assessments that hospitals pay to the Department of Health and Human Services for the Medicaid program. This section adjusts how the total assessment amount is distributed between private hospitals and public hospitals. The adjustment accounts for the recent addition of a newly-licensed private hospital as documented in the April 28, 2026, Change of Hospital Status Report submitted by the Department of Health and Human Services to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Medicaid as required by State law.
This section becomes effective October 1, 2026, and applies to hospital assessments imposed on or after that date.
