Overview: Section 16.3 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257), as amended by Section 6.1 of S.L. 2026-61 (House Bill 268), revises the number of magistrates in Avery, Burke, Cabarrus, Durham, Franklin, Iredell, New Hanover, Vance, and Wilson Counties.
This section generally became effective July 1, 2026, except that the transfer of one position from Vance County to Franklin County became effective July 13, 2026.
