Overview: Section 16.15 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) modifies G.S. 7A-305 to clarify that fees can be awarded to the prevailing party in a civil action.
This section became effective July 7, 2026, and applies to actions pending or filed on or after that date and applies to judgments entered and docketed before July 7, 2026 for which costs have been docketed.
