S257 - 2026 Appropriations Act. (SL 2026-41)

• Increases the daily reimbursement to counties housing inmates under the Statewide Misdemeanant Confinement Program (SMCP) from the previous $40 up to $50 per inmate.
• Authorizes the Department of Adult Correction to reimburse counties for the cost of housing convicted inmates, parolees, and post-release supervisees awaiting transfer to the State prison system at a rate of up to $50 per day per prisoner awaiting transfer.

This section became effective July 1, 2026.  The increase in reimbursement for SCMP applies to misdemeanants housed on or after that date.
