H50 - Law Enforcement Officer Special Separation Allowance Options. (SL 2025-8)

Overview: S.L. 2025‑8 (House Bill 50) establishes an alternative calculation for the special separation allowance for State and local law enforcement officers (LEO) who complete at least 30 years of creditable service.  LEOs are eligible for an allowance of 0.85% of their annual equivalent of the base rate of compensation at the time they attained 30 years of service if they (i) have completed at least 30 or more years of creditable service prior to attaining 62 years of age, or (ii) have completed at least 5 years of continuous service as a LEO immediately preceding a service retirement. 

This act became effective on July 1, 2025.
