Overview: Section 23.5 of S.L. 2025-47 (Senate Bill 391) transfers additional nonsworn License and Theft Bureau personnel from the Department of Transportation to the State Highway Patrol, following legislation enacted in 2024 (S.L. 2024-57) that made the State Highway Patrol an independent department and transferred all functions of the License and Theft Bureau that were required to be performed by sworn law enforcement personnel and those personnel from the Department of Transportation to the State Highway Patrol.

This section became effective July 1, 2025.
