Overview: Section 5.7 of S.L. 2025-2 (House Bill 47) allows the reconstruction or repair of a nonconforming residential structure in the affected area if several criteria are met, including, to the greatest extent possible, compliance with the local government's current development regulations. For the purposes of this summary, "affected area" means the counties under a major disaster declaration as a result of Hurricane Helene.

This section became effective March 19, 2025, and expires June 30, 2030.
